2016 BTCC Championship

The most eventful BTCC Season to date comes to a close, with Gordon Shedden leaving victorious.

Honda/Halfords Yuasa Racing's Gordon Shedden won the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship on the last race of the season on Brands Hatch’s GP circuit, with Sam Tordoff narrowly missing out by 2 points and Mat Jackson 16.

45,000 spectators watched as Shedden gave an impressive drive in round 30 to finish 3rd, making his all-important move on Tordoff on lap 7. Mat Jackson took the last win of the season, Aiden Moffat an impressive second, followed by Adam Morgan in fourth and an unlucky Tordoff finishing 5th. Shedden took the BTCC Driver’s Championship for a second year in a row; making him the only man since Fabrizio Giovanardi to win back to back titles.

Although Sam Tordoff just missed out on the Driver’s Championship, West Surrey Racing secured the Manufacturers championship with BMW, and Team JCT600 with GardX won the Team’s title. 

After championship hopes coming to a crashing end in race one at Brands’, Andrew Jordan quickly dusted himself off to win the 2016 Independent Driver’s Championship for a third year. The battle was fought between fellow Motorbase Performance Driver Mat Jackson, which came down to the last race of the day.

Independent Teams’ Championship: The Motorbase Duo of Mat Jackson and Andrew Jordan won a total of seven races between them to seal the Indie Teams.

Last but by no means least, the season-long battle for the Jack Sears Trophy finally want to Ashley Sutton, with the MG Racing RCIB Insurance driver putting in a strong performance throughout the season

BTCC Silverstone Round Up

After a weekend of intense racing the 2016 Dunlop MSA BTCC title will be decided next weekend at Brands Hatch GP, where 8 drivers will fight it out to become the 2016 BTCC Champion.

After a weekend of intense racing the 2016 Dunlop MSA BTCC title will be decided next weekend at Brands Hatch GP, where 8 drivers will fight it out to become the 2016 BTCC Champion.

At the start of the Silverstone weekend 13 drivers stood a mathematical chance of becoming the 2016 champion.

Sam Tordoff currently sits 11 points ahead of Gordon Sheddon who could be the first man since Fabrizio Giovanardi to win back-to-back titles. Matt Neal only two points behind the Scotsman in 3rd place after a DNF, 15th and 5th gained from last weekend.

4th place belongs to Rob Collard who bagged a podium in race 3 and is only 17 points behind Sam.

The Motorbase Performance Dynamic Duo of Mat Jackson and 2013 BTCC Champ Andrew Jordan sit 5th and 6th respectively and are both hungry for the Driver’s Title after leading Motorbase to the Independent Team’s Championship win.

BMR’s Turkington and Plato round off the 8, which will make for an explosive finale next weekend with 67 points up for grabs

SPA/Penske UK awarded shock absorber deal for new generation car

The 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring car Championship season will be the 54th British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) season. The Next Generation Touring Car (NGTC) will be phased in from this season.

Penske UK have been awarded the shock absorber contract for this new generation of British touring cars.

Penske racing shocks have many successes within the BTCC and look forward to working with the teams over the coming seasons.

VX Racing wins BTCC Team and constructors championship

Once again VX racing has won the BTCC Teams championship and the BTCC Manufactures championship using their Penske shod Vauxhall Vectras.  Fabrizio Giovanardi with a strong showing in the Drivers championship, coming in third.

 Other Penke cars finished well in the championship with Team Dynamics 5th in Teams championship and 2nd in the constructors with James Thompson taking a Hat-trick of victories for the team through out the year.

 Team Aon with their Ford Focus finished a notable 3rd in the manufactures championship in what was a somewhat difficult year for the team.

 Penske Racing Shocks UK has enjoyed another successful year as a supplier to many top teams in the BTCC and wishes everyone involved in the series an enjoyable winter break and all the best for next season.

PENSKE RACING SHOCKS SUPPLIES A1GP

Penske Racing Shocks, a world leader in racing damper technology, has been named damper supplier to the new A1GP World Cup of Motorsport chassis set to debut next season.<br/>When the A1GP field takes to the grid of the 2008/09 season opener in Zandvoort, each of the new Powered by Ferrari cars will be equipped with custom dampers produced by Penske Racing Shocks.<br/>Penske will serve as the exclusive damper supplier to the series, having designed an A1GP specific damper which meets the exact requirements car designers were looking for.

In designing the A1GP damper, Penske was able to draw from its experience, and in particular, its technical innovations founded in F1. At the same time, the company was committed to creating a product specifically intended to meet the needs of the A1GP chassis. By developing the dampers in parallel with the development of the car, Penske was able to give A1GP engineers exactly what they were looking for. This freedom allowed engineers to design the suspension layout with minimal compromise.

Members of Penske’s technical staff were on site for the initial tests conducted in Italy and Spain. Personnel from Penske’s main headquarters in the U.S. along with their European distributors, SPA Design Ltd., worked hard to ensure that the damping characteristics are optimized for both car and tire. This attention to subtle detail ensures that performance will remain consistent despite the varied tracks and conditions A1GP drivers can expect to encounter. In addition to its support during the developmental stages, Penske Racing Shocks will also have a presence at every event on the 2008/09 calendar. The presence of experienced technical staff will ensure that each team is gaining maximum performance from their dampers.

In keeping with the A1GP philosophy – that driving talent should be what differentiates the winners from the losers – Penske has developed a tamper proof damper aimed at preventing any team from gaining an unfair advantage by manipulating their shock absorbers. Through its partnership with NASCAR, Penske Racing Shocks has acquired a great deal of experience in the practice ensuring equality amongst all dampers within a controlled series. Based on its NASCAR model, Penske plans to implement at-race procedures which will ensure consistency in damper performance across the entire field. BTCC Season Finale

As the BTCC season draws to a close once again all eyes are turning towards the final three rounds at Brands Hatch. Fabrizio Giovanardi heads the championship in his PENSKE Shod VX Racing Vauxhall Vectra going into the final weekend  with a healthy lead of 44 points over rival Jason Plato with Colin Turkington a further 29 point behind in third place.

After another great season of racing it again boils down to the final round at Brands Hatch. Jason Plato and Fabrizio Giovanardi are again the two men bidding to pick up the drivers crown with Giovanardi hot favourite given his sizable points advantge. Plato will not give up however and as we know the BTCC finals day always manages to throw up a few surprises!

In the independants catagory the title is still very much up for grabs with Colin Turkington, Matt Jackson, and Adam Jones all in with a chance to become Champion.

 With all of the Driver's titles still up for grabs and everyone wishing to end their season on a high it should make for some exciting racing indeed. It will no doubt be a fitting way celabrate 50 years of the BTCC at the very track where it all began.

The 76th 24 Heures Du Man

This weekend see's the running of the 76th LeMans 24hrs at the circuit La Sarthe. Penske Racing Shocks is once again represented in upermost class of this the most thrilling endurance event of the racing calender with the LMP1 Epsilon Euskadi team.

Epsilon Euskadi is a High Performance Motor Racing Technology Centre based in Spain. The team has competed in Renault World series, Formula Renault and Renault Megane series with much sucess but this sees the teams first foray into endurance racing. With Technical director Sergio Rinland and the highly qualified enginners and technicians working on the team, the Epsilon Euskadi squad will no doubt excell at this event. Penske Racing Shocks wishes the team the best of luck for this event and hopes that its products and services have helped the team to gain that competitive edge needed to run at the fore of one of the world greatest motorsport challenges.
